Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon located on Navajo land outside of Page, Arizona. Over thousands of years water flows over the desert mesas, carving slots into the underlying sandstone. Slowly, layers of sandstone are removed, just a few millimeters at a time. The result? An amazing feast for the eyes and mind. Sunlight permeates the canyons from the top, and as it's reflected off the layers of sandstone, the colors and textures change. Throughout the day, minute by minute, the colors change from orange, to yellow, to purple. The canyons are pure magic, and are some of the most amazingly peaceful places on earth.
California's Central Valley is the proverbial bread basket for the entire state. The most amazing diverse crops of fruits and vegetables grow in this fertile region. It's also home to many hills covered with golden grass. This tree looked so peaceful on this particular hill. I added the small puffy cloud in post production, to create a natural balance in the image.
I just arrived in Banff and after a short nap, we departed on a quick loop drive to scout the area. As we began our travels through the park, I almost immediately pulled off on the shoulder of the road to capture this image. It was beautiful and served as a good omen for the entire trip. I love how the sky and trees almost welcome visitors into this glorious landscape.
